Description

Examines key issues in Latin American culture and history through literary texts and films based on them. Addresses important contemporary issues such as the construction of gender and sexuality, the construction of national identity, questions of race and ethnicity, "magical feminism" and urban violence. Emphasis will be placed on study of films within the cultural and social contexts of their production.

Note: The language of instruction is Spanish.
