Description

Thermodynamic functions and systems - PVT system, stretched wire, paramagnetic solid, and electrolytic cell. The first and second thermodynamic laws in application to materials engineering. Phase transitions of first and second order. Ellingham and Pourbaix diagrams. Thermodynamics of solutions. Gibbs-Duhem equation. Thermodynamic activity. Perfect and regular metallic solutions. Thermodynamic stability. Calculation of phase diagrams. Calculation of chemical equilibria in complex systems.
