Stream Outline

The MCom (Extension) Marketing Sub-specialisation provides specialised marketing knowledge and practice. This sub-specialisation develops a core set of high-level management and marketing skills and offers scope to build on these. Students can add to their business knowledge via a tailored program to suit their personal career objectives by selecting several specialised courses from a range of options.

Stream Structure

Master of Commerce (Extension) (MCom (Ext)) students must complete:
  • 2 MCom core courses
  • 3 Gateway courses - made up of designated specialist core course/s depending on the specialisation chosen
  • 6 Specialisation courses
  • 4 Sub-specialisation courses
  • 1 Capstone course
Gateway course - which must be completed as part of the general gateway course requirements:

Required Courses:
One Elective course from the following:
  • MARK5817 Contemporary Issues in Marketing (6 UOC)

If you choose to study the Master of Commerece (Extension) program 8417, you have the option to choose 4 courses (to provide you with depth of learning) from the following Sub- specialisations:
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Information Systems
  • Management
  • Business Law
  • Taxation
  • *General Option
* The General Option sub-specialisation allows you to choose two courses from the MCom and optional two courses outside of the MCom (other programs within ASB) or courses from other Faculties(with permission).
