Stream Outline

The specialisation in Biomedical Engineering is designed to introduce engineers from various disciplines to the application of engineering techniques and analyses to problem solving in medicine and the biomedical sciences. The growing complexity of medical technology has increased the demand for biomedical engineers to bridge the gap between clinical medicine and applied medical technology.

Stream Structure

Students undertake courses in Biomedical Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering. The Biomedical Engineering specialisation is not available as a Master of Engineering Science Extension.

Professional Development Courses - 24uoc (4 courses):

Candidates who enter the program without advanced standing may choose from a list of introductory courses in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biomechanics, Physiology and Anatomy. Please consult the School of Biomedical Engineering for details.

Specialisation Courses - Minimum 24uoc (4 courses):

Engineering Technical Management - Mimimum 12uoc - Maximum 24uoc (2-4 courses)
