Description

An introduction to accounting and financial management and its terminology and how financial information is used for decision making in a business environment. This course does not require existing accounting, finance or economic knowledge. It covers key accounting and financial management concepts in applied situations, designed to give students confidence in using financial information in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes

On the successful completion of this course you should be able to:
1. Use financial accounting information for investment decision-making
2. Use budget information for planning and decision purposes
3. Undertake costing information for planning and decision-making
4. Succinctly and effectively communicate to those with specialist accounting knowledge.
5. Succinctly and effectively communicate financial outcomes to those without specialist accounting knowledge.
6. Understand the role of research in financial management decision-making and be able to find and use relevant research to enhance a financial management decision.
