Description

This course introduces the fundamental aspects of geomechanics for petroleum engineers. It covers continuum mechanics and rock mechanics, including elasticity, fracture mechanics, plasticity, damage mechanics, fluid flow through deformable media. Dedicated applications are discussed, including reservoir operation, hydraulic fracturing, drill string analyses, borehole stability etc.

In case of non-engineering background, the following courses are recommended:
