Description

Links the study of policy to the practice of policy. Students conduct a piece of policy work for an outside organisation, under the joint guidance of a workplace supervisor and an academic supervisor. The student's goal is to make a useful contribution to the policy process of the organisation, and in doing this, to link the experience of policy to the body of academic knowledge about policy. Each project is individually designed, and the precise format varies. Some are relatively detached research exercises; others may involve implementing change as well as researching it.

Note: For the majority of part-time students a project within their own workplace is selected for this course. For full time students an organisation is located and arrangements are negotiated regarding timeframes and attendance at the workplace required for the completion of the project.
